Capital Expenditure Target Increased by 33%

Nirmala Sitharaman increased the capital expenditure (capex) target in the Union Budget for 2023-24 by 33% to Rs 10 lakh crore.

Revised Fiscal Deficit Estimated to be 5.9% of GDP

The Finance Minister has set the deficit for 2023-24 at 5.9%, well below the 6.4% budgeted for 2022-23.

Revamped Credit Guarantee Scheme

Sitharaman recommended revising the MSMEs credit guarantee plan last year. She said today that the revamped scheme will go into effect on April 1, 2023, with a Rs 9,000 crore infusion into the corpus.

Enhanced Presumptive Tax Eligibility Limits

MSME and Professional presumptive taxation limits have been raised to Rs.3 crore and Rs.75 lakh, respectively.

Nirmala Sitharaman, in the Union Budget, also modified the slabs to give some relief to the middle class, declaring that no tax would be payable on yearly income of up to Rs 7 lakh, up from Rs 5 lakh under the new tax system.

Rebate Limit Increased to 7 Lakh in New Tax Regime

Mahila Samman Bachat Scheme for Women

The Finance Minister introduced Mahila Samman Bachat Patra, a two-year small savings plan. The project will provide a two-year deposit facility of up to two lakh for a woman at a fixed interest rate of 7.5%.
