Make your Smile More Better with Denture

Dentures are replacements for the missing teeth. They can be taken out and put back into your mouth. Today’s dentures are more comfortable than ever although they never feel same as the natural teeth. A denture is a section of false teeth, made to replace missing teeth in a person’s mouth. Denture comes from the Latin root dens, “tooth.” dentures are artificial replacement of one or several of the teeth or jaws. Dentures also called dental plate, false teeth. A partial or a full set of artificial teeth.

Some kinds of dentures need to be soaked in a cleansing solution overnight. The denture part of a dental appliance is officially the plate to which false teeth are attached. People tend to refer to dentures, meaning the whole device. If an accident or dental disease causes you to lose adult teeth, you can have a dentist make dentures that are fitted exactly to your mouth. Some of these are permanent, while others are removable.

Types of Dentures:

  • Full dentures-Full dentures consist of both lower and upper sets. They are needed when the natural teeth are gone. The full dentures can last for 5 to 10 years with care and maintenance.
  • Partial dentures- Partial dentures are used when a person has some natural teeth intact and can give support.
  • Fixed dentures- sometimes surgery is required to replace a tooth and the tooth replacement is done including implants and bridges. They are more expensive than normal denture-making.
  • Implant or making Bridge
  • One or two artificial teeth are cemented in between the natural teeth making a fixed bridge.
  • Dental Implant- When the dentures are surgically placed into the bones for a natural fit. The implant is loaded with a prosthetic within six months of the surgery.

Benefits of Using Dentures:

  • Dentures allow you to chew and eat properly.
  • You can speak more clearly and comfortably.
  • The missing teeth make you look bad. The dentures improve your appearance and smile.
  • Dentures hold the sagging muscles in place so that a person does not look older.

Taking Care of Dental health:

With age your mouth changes shape. These changes cause the dentures to become loose and thus irritating your gums and chewing difficulties. Sometimes your dentures need to be rebased while keeping the existing denture teeth. As a result of normal wear sometimes they have to be relined and remade.

Precautions and Care for the Dentures:

  • A person should visit the dentist regularly to maintain dental hygiene. If your dentures break, or are chipped, the dentist should be consulted. Sometimes the dentures become loose and only the dentist can fix them.
  • Brush your dentures daily. This will protect from staining and developing dental plaque.
  • Brush your gums with a soft brush to guard against plaque. Brushing also stimulates the tissues well and keeps your tongue clean.
  • Keep tour dentures in normal water so that they do not dry. Never dip dentures in hot water overnight.

The Methods of Denture making:

For making a full denture, the remaining teeth have to be removed and the tissues in the mouth must heal, which may take a couple of months. A conventional full denture is inserted as the remaining teeth are removed. The dentists take measurements and make model of the patient’s jaw. If dentures are provided immediately the person does not have to be without teeth during the time of healing.

Partial Dentures:

In the partial dentures the natural teeth serve as an anchor. Partial denture is fixed with a metal framework attached to the natural teeth. No matter what kind of a denture you use, it is important to take proper care. Dentures improve your face value and help in health conditions.

So, go ahead and set the right ones for your teeth and keep smiling.
