Wanderlust Wonders – Most Beautiful Hiking Trails in the World

Have you ever gazed at a mountain or a forest and pondered the possibility of it having a pathway? All you walking fans have imagined the best hiking spots, right? Those trails don’t simply take you to beautiful locations—they help calm your nerves, make you happy, and give you a sense of liberty.

There are trails that lead to snowcaps, while there are those that meander through lush green groves or even next to lakes that glisten like the sky. In this article, you will learn about six of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world, along with detailed plans for the trips you wish to undertake.

Trails That Stay with You Forever

Inca Trail – Peru

Ending at the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu is the Inca Trail, which stretches 42 kilometers. You will need four days to complete this trail. Along the way, you’ll see forests covered in mist, old stone steps, and tall mountains all around you. It’s one of those trips that stays in your memory for life.

  • Best time to go: May to September
  • How to get there: To get there, you have to book a tour company first. Most tours begin in Cusco, which has an airport. From there, the tours will transfer you to the trail by bus. You will be guided through the trek and will have to sleep in tents at night.

West Coast Trail – Canada

Located on the border of the Canadian Vancouver Island, this region boasts a 75 km long West Coast Trail, which can be completed in 5-7 days. Travelers can engage in walking along the beach, climbing ladders, and crossing wooden bridges. If you get lucky, you may even spot some sea lions and whales.

  • Best time to go: July to early September
  • How to get there: Take a ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, then get a bus to either Pachena Bay or Gordon River. Ensure your spot is booked with the Parks Canada beforehand.

Annapurna Circuit – Nepal

This trail circumnavigates the Annapurna mountains. It has a duration of 15 – 20 days if a person walks the whole distance. You will see small towns, rivers, forests, and snow-capped mountains. Part of it includes crossing a very high mountain pass, but the sight makes it worthwhile.

  • Best time to go: October to November or March to April
  • How to get there: Begin this adventure from the Besisahar region. Most people start the hike there. First, fly to Kathmandu and take a local bus or jeep to Besisahar. Follow the trail alone or hire a local guide.

Overland Track – Australia

This serene hiking path lies in the Tasmania region of Australia. It spans approximately 65 kilometers and takes about 6 days to complete. The hiker would walk through wooded areas and mountains, alongside lakes. If lucky, you’re able to spot some wombat or wallaby.

  • Best time to go: December to March
  • How to get there: Start by flying into Hobart or Launceston and taking a bus to Cradle Mountain. Booking the hike through the Tasmania Parks website is a must. Pack your food and camping gear prior to the bus ride.

GR20 – Corsica, France

The trail is breathtaking, although long and steep. Corsica is about 180 kilometers from the northern tip and south of the country. A hiker would walk through woodlands, mountains, and rocky hills, showing massively elevated terrains. It is tough to hike, but in many opinions it is the best in Europe.

  • Best time to go: June to September
  • How to get there: Take a flight to either Bastia or Ajaccio, followed by taking a train or bus to Calenzana (starting point) or Conca (finishing point). Huts are available for overnight stays, or you can bring a tent.

Laugavegur Trail – Iceland

The trail passes through dry hot springs, colorful hills, and billowing black lava fields. It stretches roughly 55 kilometers in length while taking 3 to 5 days to complete. The views you will experience here are beautiful and appear to be from another planet.

  • Best time to go: Mid-June to early September
  • How to get there: Fly into Reykjavik, and then take a bus to Landmannalaugar, where the trail begins. While some people stay in mountain huts, camping is also an option.
