5 Tips for Painting Your House Faster

There are two ways to do a home project: the easy way and the hard way. There is a common misconception that the former results in poorer results. This is not quite true. You can get great results from a house project done the easy way, and it applies to getting your house painted, as well.

While a home inspector in Alberta may have cleared the house during an inspection, your house may need a fresh coat of paint before it is sale-ready. If you are planning to complete the task by yourself, here is how you can speed up the process. Thank us later.

Wash down your house

The first step in any house painting project, even one on a low budget, is to wash the house and clear all the grime and cobwebs. The best way to speed up this process is by using a pressure washer or garden hose, spraying them twice. First, clean with a soapy solution and then spray with clean water.

Paints and primers

Make your life a little easier by choosing a paint that is either the same shade or darker than the current one. This saves you time spent on coating the house multiple times for a lighter colour. Moreover, when you choose the same colour, and your existing paint is in good condition, you can even limit the primer to unpainted and unprimed areas.

Minimize the scraping

Scraping the paint is a tedious and boring task. You scrape one side, and it leads to a bigger patch until you crave easier jobs. You avoid this by limiting the scraping process. Scrape until you reach a solid edge. However, if you feel you need to scrape off all the paint, it’s time to call in the professionals.

Rolling and spraying

Both rolling and spraying paint can save you time. However, you need to choose the right surface. Choose to roll for flat surfaces, as it can help you cover the ground faster. Go for spraying on larger or detailed surfaces, but be sure to cover surrounding non-painted areas before you start.

Cleaning tricks

If there is one painting task that takes up most of your time, it is cleaning the brush or roller. Save yourself the trouble by getting cheap, disposable roller covers. When it comes to a brush, buy a really good one and maintain it well with a paintbrush comb.

Conclusion

Painting a house is not a simple task and requires a lot of time and effort. If you go for professionals, it can even cost you some money, as well. However, through an easy cleaning process, minimizing scraping, smart paint and primer choice, and efficient painting techniques, you can save time, money, and effort and speed up your painting project.
