When most people think of Cornwall they picture themselves admiring beautiful coastline scenery, visiting quaint villages, fishing, taking long walks on trails by the coast, and soaking up the sun on the beach. But if that isn’t your cup of tea and you’re looking for something that will get your adrenaline pumping, you’ll be happy to note that there are quite a few places that’ll fit the bill.
If you’re looking for outdoor adventures and activities for adrenaline junkies, here are six places you need to visit:
ATV Centre
If you’re interested in quad biking you should head over to the ATV Centre near Truro. Once you sign up you’ll wear the safety equipment they provide and practice on one of the smaller tracks before moving on to the main tracks after you’re ready. The 1.2km track at the ATV Centre is definitely the most fun with lots of winding corners, bumps, and jumps that will get your heart pumping.
Adrenaline Quarry
As its name suggests, the Adrenaline Quarry is a one-stop hub for outdoor adventures. It is located near Liskeard and features a thrilling zip wire and giant swing as well as go-karting, axe throwing, wild swimming, and more.
Eden Project
The Eden Project near St. Austell is England’s most impressive botanical garden – which may not sound like it’s very adrenaline-filled, but appearances can be deceiving. Within the Eden Project, you’ll find the Hangloose Adventures that include aerial trekking, a giant swing, jumping into a giant airbag, base jumping, and the SkyWire – England’s longest zip wire.
Cornwall Underground Adventures
Located near St. Just, Cornwall Underground Adventures will let you explore a maze of tunnels in one of Cornwall’s abandoned tin mines. It is no walk in the park, and you’ll have to traverse flooded passages and gaping chasms, abseil down mine shafts, and climb up certain areas – which is quite physically demanding.
The Extreme Academy
If you’re around Newquay, checking out the Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay is a great idea. It has a ton of thrilling activities, including kitesurfing, wave skiing, kite buggying, landboarding, mountain boarding, surfing, and more.
Kernow Coasteering
Want to scramble through Cornwall’s rocky coastline, jump off cliffs, swim in clear water, and explore hidden coves? If you do then Kernow Coasteering’s adrenaline-fueled trips are the right choice and you can enjoy their activities all across Cornwall’s west coast.
Make no mistake there are several other outdoor adventures worth trying in Cornwall, such as surfing, zorbing, and more. To put it simply although Cornwall may seem quaint, peaceful, and quiet on the surface – there are more than enough adrenaline-fueled activities around if you know where to look for them.
In fact, part of what makes adventuring in Cornwall so perfect is that after you’ve had your fill of excitement – you can kick back, relax, and unwind while enjoying a bit of peace. That perfect blend is something that you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere other than Cornwall.
