After being asked to bat first, Bangalore registered 174 runs with the loss of four wickets while Punjab made only 150 runs— all thanks to Right-arm fast-medium bowler, Mohammed Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj was in excellent form and took four wickets for just 21 runs. That’s amazing, right? Apart from excellent bowling, RCB’s batting was also commendable and praise-worthy. RCB batting openers Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis showed a great partnership and together scored 108 in just 13 overs with no loss of wickets.
However, the performance of Punjab bowlers was also no less than a big surprise. They returned back brilliantly to stop other RCB players from scoring runs. Virat scored 59 runs from just 47 balls while Du Plessis scored 84 runs from 56 balls, before being subbed off in the 2nd innings.
On the other side, Punjab tried to perform decently well even without the leadership of their regular captain Shikhar Dhawan who was not part of the match due to his shoulder niggle. However, later the team seemed to be struggling while chasing runs and lost 4 wickets inside the powerplay alone. The team had a lot of hopes for the excellent wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma but Bangalore was in full power and proved to be one of the toughest teams on the day. As mentioned earlier in this article, Mohammed Siraj bowled superbly and finish with 4 wickets for 21 runs.
Apart from Siraj, a bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was also amazing and took 2 wickets for 39 runs. Harshal Patel and Wayne Parnell were the other wicket-takers. After yesterday’s win, RCB has climbed to the 5th position with a net run rate of -0.068 while PBKS has dropped to the 7th position with a net run rate of -0.298.
