Different people have a passion for different things, and passion for gardening is one of them. What? You are one of them? Most people think gardening is an easy job, but in reality, it is not. Therefore, before you plan to decorate your garden with vegetables, make sure you do it right, especially if you are a beginner.

Let’s explore a few important vegetable gardening tips with the experts of Plantgrowpick.

Size of the garden

As per experts’ advice, it is better for beginners’ to start with a small portion of the garden. When you are new in something, it is better to invest a small amount of money and time. In the end, focus and quality matter a lot. If you are a beginner you need to focus more on gardening and its process. So make sure you choose a small garden at the beginning around 10×10 feet.

Veggies you should plant

When it comes to choosing veggies to plant, make sure you consider a few important things, which includes:

  • Productivity

When it comes to productivity, you need to consider your consumption, and preferences in vegetables. Now choose the seeds or plants you accordingly to put into the ground. Most times beginners make the mistake of planting in excess. You can consider vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and squash throughout the season. These options are also beneficial because now you may not need many plants to serve your needs. As vegetables like carrots, radishes, and corn, produce only once.

  • Successive crops

You can choose to plant both cool- and warm-weather vegetables as it gives you a yield of vegetables and herbs through the spring, summer, and fall. In early spring you can choose to grow lettuce, peas, radishes, carrots, and broccoli. Once you’ve harvested cool-weather crops, you can plant hot-weather favorites. For example, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and herbs. And in the season of fall, you can harvest kale, Cabbage, and potatoes.

Best spot for your garden

The most important task is to find out the best place for your garden. Make sure you the garden you choose must get the sunlight. The three main things that are essential for successful gardening are a sun, soil, and water.

  • The right amount of sun

Make sure vegetables get proper sunlight to kick-start photosynthesis. Remember the fastest growing vegetables required at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight and it should not be blocked with trees, fences, or shrubs. And when it comes to root vegetables which include carrots, radishes, etc., needs at least needs 3 to 4 hours of sun in a day.

  • The right amount of water

Watering inaccurate quantity and at an accurate time is the key to garden success. Once seeds germinated or seedlings are transplanted, continuous watering keeps plants strong. Deep watering helps roots to grow deeper in the soil, where they’re successfully protected and in a better way.

  • Rich soil

You can consider soil that is dark, crumbly, and exactly full of life. Good news is that the texture doesn’t matter, all soil can be improved with time. All you need to incorporate organic matter into it. You can take an example of sandy soils. If you add organic matter to sandy soil, it will help it to retain both nutrients and moisture for plants to use.
