Preparation Tips for General English for Competitive Exams

The English for competitive exams takes a rough turn and the number of students gets tensed about the same. Every student masters their area; some are genius in maths, some memorize stuff of science, and some make their way with studies by understanding the concepts. 

English has been quite a difficult task for students who haven’t been completely devoted to the subject and forgot the rules of grammar of their junior classes. English plays a major role in competitive exams and the section of English quite difficult to understand.

The candidate can understand and score great in the subject if they are well aware of the basics.  Some tips can be followed by the candidate to score great in their government exams.

Make reading a routine in your daily life. The more you read, the more Jargons the student is going to dive to the same language. Reading regularly improves vocabulary and reading skills. It is advisable to start your day by reading the newspaper “The HINDU” is recommended to every aspirant.

The reading will help you increase the reading speed, focus on vocabulary, learn more about issues concerning the state, politics, and general knowledge. The reading helps you deal with long paragraphs and passages to be completed in a few seconds and increase the chances of scoring better.

Focus on vocabulary

The words can do magic and get you the job you want. The more you watch and read you tend to learn new words and use them in different sentences to make them more meaningful. There are books available in the market that would be helpful for the candidates to learn new words and pass their competition exam. 

For Example: If you have recently started studying English and your dsssb exam date is arriving which requires putting extra hours of work. The word books are really helpful as it tends to cover 30% of the syllabus for the exam. The candidate will be well-prepared before the dsssb admit card comes live on the internet.

Focus on  Grammar Basics

Brush up your grammar before you put yourself out for the paper. Focus on basic grammar such as nouns, verbs, pronouns, tenses, prepositions, conjunctions, subject-verb agreement, and more. There are books and test guides available in the market that can be used to analyze and access yourself to check where you stand. Give mock and practice tests, and put emphasis on writing tasks, analyze your mistakes and improvise to retain excellent scores.

Spot Errors

It has been normal to forget the basic grammar rules but with regular reading habits, the candidate develops the understanding to find out the errors in the sentence. The habit of regularly reading or watching English movies helps in spotting errors easily and improves performance.

Focus on Comprehension Skills

When the candidate reads any book, magazine, or newspaper on the routine they tend to identify the figure of speech, writing manner, paragraph, and more. Re-read the sentences after writing thoroughly it helps you to improve the writing and focus on the points where mistakes are taking place and improve them.
