Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba.
Morihei Ueshiba learned various martial arts and also practiced spiritually.
Before the war, Morihei Ueshiba, who had a good reputation as a martial artist, established the Imperial Buddhist Foundation to spread his martial arts.
After the end of the war, the Emperor’s Association will become the “Aikikai Foundation”.
From this time on, Morihei Ueshiba’s martial arts came to be called Aikido, and Aiki was born.
Since then, Aiki has become widespread and is now spreading overseas.
Morihei Ueshiba studied ancient Japanese martial arts such as jujutsu and swordsmanship, encountered Takeda Sokaku’s Daito-ryu Aiki Jiu-jitsu, and was further influenced by Omoto’s idea of valuing peace.
The result of combining these is the reverse joint technique of Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu, which reverses the joints, and the dangerous technique of holding down with the legs and knees, and kicking is also possible. It is a banned general martial art “Aikido”.
The characteristic of Aiki is that by using the body rationally, it is possible to control the opponent even if the body is small and inferior in terms of power.
There is no match in Aiki.
This is because they do not compete with their opponents for victory or defeat.
The purpose is to train the mind and body through training.
Even today’s leading Aiki people have their own way of thinking, and the answers to “What is Aiki?” Are quite different.

In Daito-ryu Aiki Jiu-Jitsu, it seems that some of the basic techniques for performing techniques were called “Aiki”.

Aikido is often referred to as Aikikai Aikido.
