5 Top Tips To Make Your Bedroom Look Expensive & Luxurious

We all want a luxurious bedroom that looks as though it’s come straight from Pinterest. But, for most people, their budget doesn’t match their luxury decor dreams. If this sounds like you, then don’t give up on your inspiration if you want to create a bedroom that looks expensive and luxurious.

It is possible to give your bedroom a touch of style without breaking your budget, as with so many other things in life, it’s all about the details. With that in mind, here are some top tips to make your bedroom look expensive and luxurious, all within your budget.

Cut Out Clutter

Whilst this isn’t an accessory you can add to your room or a decor style you can transform the room with, cutting out any clutter from your bedroom will instantly make it appear more luxurious. No matter how much you spend on furniture, your room won’t look expensive or luxurious if it is cluttered. Ensure that there is plenty of space and get rid of anything that is not necessary, loved, or adds anything to your life.

Pay particular attention to the floor space of your bedroom, as this is where the most clutter can accumulate and is often the hardest to shift. If you find that clutter forms on the floor space of your bedroom, then look at the reasons why it might be happening and look for methods to counteract this, such as laundry baskets or more storage.

Update Your Bedding

When it comes to your interior choices, your bedding is perhaps one of, if not the most, important decisions to make. Something that not many people realize is that if you’re trying to make your bedroom look and feel more expensive or luxurious, then changing your bedding is one of the easiest ways to do so.

You can buy cheap bedding sets that feel and look more expensive than they really are, especially if you pair them with cotton bedding, as you would typically find in a luxury hotel or spa. Be sure to choose versatile and neutral fabrics which complement the rest of your bedroom and look to add to the style with scatter cushions or plush throws.

Use Mirrors to Add Space

Even if you live in a studio apartment, you can create a more luxurious and expensive-looking bedroom with some clever tricks and tips, one of these being the use of mirrors to add space to the room. Large mirrors hung on either side of the bed can add an instant luxury feel, plus it can instantly light up and lengthen the room.

If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to buying brand new mirrors to hang around your bedroom, why not visit local antique or vintage stores to find discounted mirrors in unique and unusual designs, adding to the luxury feel of your bedroom.

Invest in a Statement Piece

Give your bedroom a lasting impact by investing in a statement piece, whether that be a piece of art to hang over the bed, a luxurious rug to place underneath furniture, or a standout accessory for shelves. No matter what statement piece you choose, be sure that it reflects your personal style and taste and is large enough to create an immediate impact upon entering the room. Remember, you don’t need to spend a large amount, you could perhaps create the artwork yourself or visit your favorite boutique stores for statement pieces.

Emulate a Luxury Spa

When it comes to creating an expensive and luxurious bedroom, why not take inspiration from luxury spa hotels for quick and easy ideas? Think crisp, white bed linen, minimalist decor, and relaxing lighting for a good starting base. But, most importantly, think about the scent of a luxury spa and hotel. Scent plays a huge role in our emotions and is one of our strongest senses, so by making sure that your bedroom smells beautiful, you can instantly make it more relaxing and feel more luxurious.

Candles are a must for any relaxing space and, when it comes to creating an expensive and luxurious-looking bedroom, the addition of a few candles can transform the space. If you’re not able to have candles in your bedroom, whether due to rent agreements, children, or pets, then there are some alternatives that you can use instead.

Reed diffusers are a great way to add scent into your bedroom and can be hidden, if you don’t want it on show, or be used as a statement piece on a set of drawers or bedside table. If you really want to mimic a spa environment in your bedroom, consider getting an essential oil diffuser. With just a few drops of essential oil and water, well-balanced scented steam is emitted from the diffuser with very quiet water trickling sound that can be hugely relaxing. When it comes to the scents you should use, avoid anything overly sweet and instead opt for natural scents, such as lavender, shea, ylang-ylang, or hibiscus.
