After completing my MBA, I started working for one of the leading liquid nitrogen plant manufacturing companies in India. Here, I used to create awesome content for applications of oxygen and other gases in various industries.

Unveiling the Role of Content Creators

By creating written and audio-visual content, I helped increase the audience on the website of the company. I worked here for over a decade creating all types of content. This helped the company to rank high on Google and other search engines. Then, I left the job to become a full-time content creator. However, you might ask what do the content creators do? I will answer all your questions in detail.

As I have been creating content now for over 10 years, I can guide you on many things related to content creation. For example, I will walk you through how content creators create content. A content creator is responsible for planning and creating all types of content to generate revenue either for them or their organization. And, their content is uploaded on all types of mediums including channels, social media, and websites or print publications. However, even a youngster posting his vacation pictures on social media is a content creator just like a movie maker or a fiction writer. But, our focus in this article will be on digital content created specifically for businesses to increase customers and generate more leads.

Avenues for content creators

Digital content creators

Digital content creators work in the following modes:

Freelance

They are self-employed and work with several organizations on a contractual basis.

In-house content creators

They are direct employees of a company just as I am working for Universal Boschi and creating content for them.

Agency

Content creators at the agency are their direct employees creating content for the clients of the agency.

There are both benefits and constraints for the creators working in the above-mentioned modes. For example, in-house creators get regular work and pay but they have to work in an office with a certain environment. On the other hand, freelance creators have more flexibility but their payouts are uncertain as they must find work by themselves. However, agency creators get to produce different types of content but do not have any control over workflows and processes.

Types of content creators

There are many types of creators producing content across various categories. However, the line between different types of creators is hazy. Whether you are making a short reel for social media or writing content for a website, you are a content creator. I am citing a few examples of common types of content creators showing you how they work.

Influencers and brand ambassadors

These are the types of creators that increase their following on social media channels and monetize their following by recommending products to them that they can buy. Besides, the brands also pay the influencers to display their products.

However, it is a misconception that only influencers with millions of subscribers can make money. Some brands like to work with nano influencers boasting of only a few thousand followers. If you want to become an influencer, it is just the right time. It is estimated that influencer marketing is increasing at an excellent click and will be worth it.

Social media content creators and managers

Such creators plan and then generate content for a brand for social media consumption. Besides, they are responsible for handling the social media accounts of brands. Usually, social media managers must have basic knowledge of different fields. They take pictures, make videos, write captions, and prepare campaigns. Moreover, they also manage and report metrics.

Vloggers and streamers

They create their audience just like influencers and make money by signing brand deals or they offer their products online. The only difference between them is the use of mediums. Vloggers make their videos and upload them on mediums such as YouTube. Their content can be about any dimension of life, etc. On the other hand, some streamers make videos and share them on platforms like Twitch.

Photographers and videographers

These content creators capture photos videos or both. They have a lot of outlets that buy their work. Besides, they can make their social channels; and sell them to stock image websites. Frequently, they also get to work with brands and social media managers. They also undertake product photography for e-commerce brands.

Writers

Amongst the content creators, the writers comprise the best category. They create content for a wide range of mediums. You will find their content in the following categories:

  • Blog posts
  • Web pages
  • Email marketing
  • Video scripts
  • Brochures
  • E-books and white papers
  • Social media posts

 Podcasting

Now brands are using podcasts either for advertising or create them for creating self-awareness. They can range from 2-minute talks on our daily problems to multi-hour lessons on financial planning. The interest of the audience in podcasting has increased substantially. Such a rise in their popularity has been possible because they offer talks on all types of topics important to the general public.

In conclusion

Becoming a content creator can be a rewarding and dynamic career choice in today’s digital age. The world of content creation is diverse, offering opportunities for individuals with various skills and interests. Whether you aspire to be an influencer, a social media content manager, a vlogger, a photographer, a writer, or even a podcaster, the avenues are open for you to explore
