Ministry of Railway Announces World’s Biggest Recruitment Drive

Indian Railway has started the world’s largest recruitment drive with about 89,500 vacancies across different departments of the state-run transporter. The vacant posts are available for assistant loco pilots, canbinmen, gangmen, technicians, porters, welders, helpers etc.

However, this recruitment drive seeks to hire young talent from across various education qualifications. The railway recruitment drive will give a boost to the present government employment generation.

The main purpose of this mega recruitment drive is to reinforce the safety in railway operations as it was tarnished by series of accidents. Moreover, the staff expenditure has grown from the previous year and is predictable to be around Rs 76,451.89 crore in 2018-19.

Railway Announces Numerous Vacancies This Month

According to a report, about 1.2 lakhs vacancies are available in the Indian railway recently. The railway minister, Piyush Goyal effort to upsurge the safety and security of the railway department. Actually, the minister is planning to change the top-heavy job structure by recruiting enormously in the Group D.

This month, railway department first announces the 26,502 vacant posts for assistant loco pilots and technicians. After few days, applications for another lower level posts also has been pro-claimed. The hiring process for approx. 63,000 employees in group D category (gangmen and trackmen) has been started.

Eligibility Criteria

Railway minister relaxes the upper age limit of recruiting people in various categories, which includes high school pass and engineers.  Aspirant candidate should have the age limit 18-31 in order to apply for various posts. Although, age restriction is different for different posts.

Age relaxation is given according to government norms (OBC applicants – 3 years and SC/ST applicants – 5 years). Along with this, free sleeper class railway pass facility will be available for SC/ST candidates during the hiring process.

Deadlines, Tests and More

Number of Vacant Posts for 10th Pass – 62907

Online registration and application submission has been started from February 10, 2018. The last date for submitting an application is 31st of March, till 11:59 PM. Moreover, last date and time for online application fee payment are 12th March up to 10 PM.

Number of Vacant Posts for Assistant Loco Pilot and Technicians Posts – 26,502

Aspiring candidates can apply and register at the railway department’s official website i.e. indianrailways.gov.in. The last date to submit your application form is March 5, 2018.

Pay Scale: The selected candidate will get Rs. 19,900 per month and allowances as per the Seventh Central Pay Commission (Level 1).

It is crucial to check the status of the application after submitting the job application online. Sometimes, because of small errors, the application is rejected. Hence, you should check the status in order to ensure your application has been successfully submitted.
