4 Different Uses of Electricity in our Daily lives

After the innovation of electricity, it is impossible to think about life with no power or energy. You would probably agree that one to two hours of an electricity shutdown can become difficult for us to tolerate. The increasing demand of electricity is looking for new reliable sources of power generation. Presently, electricity is being produced by different sources, such as solar, wind, biomass, and nuclear energy. Human civilization demands electricity to conduct various activities.

You can visit Bravo Electro for more on Electricity and Power. This article will discuss four of the major uses of electricity:

#1: Residential Uses

There are many household appliances and objects that use electricity, from basic items to more advanced ones. These include anything from the small household items, like a coffee maker, dishwasher, and microwave to the big appliances, like air conditioning units, refrigerators, electric heaters, washers & dryers, etc. Even the whole lighting system of your house is dependent on electricity. These household items were made to ease our day-to-day tasks, but they are of no use and can’t function in the absence of electricity. Our daily lives are so dependent on different sources of electricity. Globally, it is observed that a substantial amount of electricity is employed for household purposes. The electricity wasted under this category is very high due to homeowners and residents being ignorant of the ways to reduce energy consumption.

#2: Transportation Uses

The global transportation system is totally dependent on energy. Traveling from one place to another or even communicating across the globe is only thinkable due to electricity. Electricity is massively used by the public via electric vehicles. It is used to charge vehicles’ batteries as well. Railway networks are also reliant on sources of energy for fuel. Worldwide, it is recognized that a major portion of environmental pollution is caused by the burning of fossil fuels. So vehicles that run on batteries are much safer and more eco-friendly for our environment. Therefore, a rise in electric vehicles is expected in the coming years.

#3: Industrial Uses

In current times, the industrial sector is a vast consumer of electricity. It is not feasible to run factories, industrial units, manufacturing processes, and other diverse ranges of activities without the use of electricity. It is noted that sudden power shutdowns can cause severe financial losses to companies that rely on these factories and industrial units. Recently, a rapid increase in the industrial consumption of electricity has been observed, and it is expected to increase at high rates over the coming years. Thus, many industries are attempting to establish their power plants, so they don’t have to outsource electricity. This way, they are in a better position to cut down on their utility bills substantially. The percentage for industrial usage of electricity varies from country to country.

#4: Commercial Uses

Lastly, there are commercial uses of electricity. Mainly, the electricity is supplied to commercial buildings that cover workplaces, hospitals, education centers, restaurants, shopping malls, government properties, police stations, etc. In the commercial sector, electricity is considerably used for lighting, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation of buildings. It is said that a large proportion of electricity is being consumed for street lighting all across the world. There are a few sub-sectors under the commercial sector that require an endless supply of electricity, such as hospitals and medical facilities. Therefore, there is a need to employ energy-saving techniques to prevent energy wastage. Also, there is a need to introduce reliable energy alternatives to provide a continuous supply of electricity to required commercial subsectors.
