The top qualifiers Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will face off in the opening encounter of the Playoffs today at Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata. Gujarat Titans will be chasing the crown for the first time, while Royals have qualified in the top two after 14 years, they were the first winners of this tournament, have won the title back in 2008.
I personally think Rajasthan Royals will clinch the #IPL2022 trophy this year.
And they will dedicate this title to Shane Warne (as he won it for them in 2008, the first IPL season)
Seems like a happy ending. Isn’t it? pic.twitter.com/gikWd405jv

The odds are stacked against the former champion Rajasthan Royals. If the weather continues to be bad and the match is canceled, Gujarat Titans will automatically enter into the finals, while Rajasthan Royals will face the winner of the eliminator match that will be played between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. But, if the weather improves, the first match of the Playoffs will be played today at 7:30 IST between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. The losing team will play the winner of the eliminator match.

The eliminator Playoffs match will be critical for both teams because they will not get another chance; the victorious team will advance to Qualifier 2 and face the losing team from today’s match, while the losing team would be eliminated from the tournament.

Overall Rajasthan Royals‘ record at Eden garden is not promising, they have only won two of their nine matches there. The toss will also play a role in today’s match; whoever decides to bowl first has a better chance of winning; three of the previous five matches here in the IPL have been won by the chasing team. Will that be sufficient for today’s match? Well! Let’s see what happens in today’s match.
Probable XI of Gujarat Titans:
Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Matthew Wade/Alzarri Joseph, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Shami
Probable XI of Rajasthan Royals:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Obed McCoy
