What exactly is the difference between a Heart Attack and a Cardiac Arrest?

Nowadays, busy lifestyles increase the incidence of heart disease in young and old people. A heart attack is not just a heart attack. So sometimes cardiac arrest can lead to death. But then find out exactly what cardiac arrest is.

Difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest

Cardiac arrest is a condition. In which the heart stops pumping and circulatory function stops. People often fall prey to heart attacks and cardiac arrests. Blockages in blood vessels can interfere with the heart’s ability to supply blood. The result is a heart attack.

Cardiac arrest disrupts the flow of oxygen to other organs in the body during blood flow. The brain also loses its function due to lack of oxygen. In this case, the control of breathing is lost, pure loss.

Cardiac arrest is a ‘medical emergency’ that needs immediate treatment. In such cases, the patient is given a specific electric shock along with Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Some of the symptoms of cardiac arrest

  • Sudden dizziness
  • Feeling tired
  • Darkness before the eyes
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath

Cardiac arrest can often be without any symptoms or signs, so it is important to take special care of yourself.

How can Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation help save a patient after a heart attack?

Increasing stress, lifestyle changes have increased the risk of problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease in young and old people. Immediate treatment is required after a heart attack. This is because every minute is needed for the person to reach the hospital after the shock. CPR, or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, is helpful in patients who are unable to breathe after a severe concussion. This increases the chances of the person surviving until blood circulation and respiration are regularized and further help is received. A patient without CPR has a 10% lower chance of survival. So find out how and when to do cardio-pulmonary-resuscitation if someone close to you has a heart attack.

  • Prepare to be admitted to the nearest hospital immediately after a person has a heart attack.
  • Meanwhile, is the person breathing, pulse beating? Check it out. Do not give CPR if the person is conscious, breathing. Giving CPR to a living person can be dangerous.
  • If breathing is not continuous, try to open the mouth with the person’s head back. This helps to clear the airways.
  • Take a deep breath with the person lying on your back and breathe through the mouth.
  • Put both hands on each other and apply pressure to the chest bones in a specific rhythm. Make sure the pressure is about 5 inches below it. Also, keep the speed at 103 pressures per minute.
  • Then breathe through the mouth again to see if the person’s heart starts working again. But in the meantime close your nose with your fingers.
  • Then rotate the person on a cushion. As the chest slowly begins to move up and down again, assume that your CPR attempt is succeeding.
  • Admit the patient to the hospital for further treatment.
