House Cleaning Mistakes you Should Avoid

We all want to keep our houses looking as clean as possible at all times. Let’s take a look at some of the house cleaning mistakes you should avoid.

Most people, or at least most adults, do make a point of making sure that their homes are at least somewhat clean and tidy. If you fall into this group, which is the majority of people, you will know very well just how time-consuming the whole cleaning affair is. What may surprise you to know is that you can save a lot of time by avoiding the common cleaning mistakes that a lot of people make. By knowing about the mistakes, you can take the all-important first step in recognizing that there may be a problem with how you clean your house. This knowledge can empower you to do a much better job of cleaning your home and keeping it looking neat and tidy with actually less work.

Let us now take a look at some of the most common cleaning mistakes that a lot of people have a habit of making. The next step is to correct these mistakes. After that has been done you will notice that you are saving yourself a lot of time and also effort.

Too much product

There are a lot of people who are under the assumption that the more cleaning product you use the better it will clean. That is simply, however, not the case by any stretch of the imagination. When you use too much product what you are doing in fact is oversaturating the materials required for cleaning. For example, if you use too much product on microfiber cloths it can leave some ugly stains behind. Furthermore, you will also notice that you are spending more of your time just cleaning overspray than you are spending time cleaning the actual surfaces. Too strong chemicals may also take a toll on tile floors.

The fix: Just know that a bit of cleaning product does go a long way. Also, know that it is much easier to just add cleaner than it is to mop up excess product.

A Dirty Cloth To Clean

This one is a pretty obvious one but it is still one that needs to be mentioned in this list of common cleaning mistakes that people make. We all want to do it as quickly as possible and to save as much time as possible, but that should not deter us from using a cloth that is clean. If we do not have a clean cloth, then it is better not to clean at that particular time and wait and to get a clean cloth for cleaning the house.

If the stuff that you are using to clean the house is itself dirty, then you might as well not bother with cleaning at all. Soiled cloth or sponge will not do us much favors as far as cleaning is concerned. All that a dirty cloth or sponge will do is just spread grease and grime on and around the surface. Remember you got these stuff to clean the surfaces and not make it even dirtier but that is exactly what you can expect when cleaning with a dirty cloth or sponge. This can even pose health hazards in addition to being just gross.

The fix: Make sure that the materials you are using when cleaning are all clean and are so right from the beginning. Also, when you are working on larger scale housekeeping projects, you should rinse sponges and freshen the clothes as needed. This type of project can be things like cleaning the light fixtures or the freezer.

Poorly Organized

Probably the most common and unnecessary mistake that people make when they clean is to be unorganized. When you clean, you want to be as efficient as possible, you want to do it with as little extra effort as needed and also with the least amount of extra time. In order to be able to do this, however, you need to make sure that you are organized from the get-go and that you know where all your cleaning supplies are. The last thing you need to be worried about when cleaning is trying to figure out where exactly it is that you placed the baking soda or where was the last place you kept that last spray bottle of vinegar. This is nothing more than just time-wasting.

The fix: The fix to this is not that complicated. You need to make sure that all of your cleaning supplies are in a set place. This is very useful as otherwise, you would just be dashing from one room to another without any proper idea of what you are doing. You should start by knowing where and how to properly keep your cleaning supplies. A lot of them may have specific storage requirements and you need to make sure that you are privy to that knowledge. If it is possible then keep the cleaning supplies in or close to the room that you are going to be cleaning. There might be a possibility that you need to keep these products in a high place so that children or pets cannot get to them. This is also doable while at the same time it is possible to do so in an organized manner. So be organized with your cleaning supplies and cleaning tools. It will save you some precious time when it comes to cleaning the house.

One particularly good idea may be to create a caddy for cleaning that can hold your most-used supplies, such as a spray bottle of vinegar, microfiber cloths, dishwashing liquid, etc.

So, as we have covered above, make sure you do not make these common mistakes when cleaning your home. Not only will you be able to clean better but you will also save time in completing the whole process if you just simply avoid the cleaning mistakes listed above.
