Declutter in Style: Removal of Rubbish from Your Home

Clutter and rubbish are something that we all have to contend with at one point or another.  Whether it’s a small bit of junk in our bedrooms or a hoarded house, sometimes it can be hard to deal with all on our own.  Unfortunately, it’s often easier to just let things be.

When that happens, the situation can quickly spiral.  Often, that’s how hoarded houses come about – people who have lost hope and don’t know how to fix things on their own.  Honestly, cleaning up big messes like that isn’t a one-person job anyway.

Whatever the circumstances behind needing a lot of trash removed from a home or other property, though, there are options available to do it quickly and efficiently.  For those who are environmentally friendly, there are plenty of options out there too – don’t be discouraged!

What is Decluttering / Rubbish Removal?

Admittedly, we’ve been seeing “decluttering” used as a buzzword for a few years now.  It seems to crop up everywhere, to the point where it’s almost lost its meaning for a lot of us.  That being said, though, it’s worth learning more about.

Decluttering is pretty simple as a concept, really.  It’s a process in which you take inventory of all of the stuff that you have in your house (and maybe your car, too), and you get rid of things that you aren’t using or that are taking up way too much space to justify.  Really, though, the process is going to be different for each individual.

After all, one person’s trash is another man’s treasure, as the famous saying says!  No two people will have the exact same methodology or even mindset when it comes to getting rid of the trash in their homes.  That being said, there is a sort of “baseline” in terms of what counts as “trash.”

Expired food or broken furniture are two big ones.  Old receipts or papers that have been soiled somehow are also prime candidates for the junkyard.  When it comes to decluttering, remember that throwing things away isn’t the only option that you have.

You can also donate certain items, and even recycle some of them.  If you’re able to find a professional garbage crew, you can check on their website or with their customer service if they offer eco-friendly options.  It may not be important to everyone, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

Why is it so Important?

Rubbish Removal

Small scale, a bit of trash probably isn’t that big of a deal.  No one is going to want to cuddle up to it or anything, but it’s not that big of a problem in a vacuum.  However, once it starts to build up, there can be some pretty big consequences.

As much as there is truth to potential fines from your city and the like, that’s not what we’ll focus on for now.  Unfortunately, mental health is something that often goes unsaid in cases with a lot of rubbish to be removed.  Yet, it’s one of the biggest factors at play.

Removing clutter and garbage from the home can often be akin to doing the same thing in our minds.  There’s a reason that a lot of people feel that it’s a therapeutic process.  Even professionals like Ridly mention it on their site – a cleaning crew can be emotional support (to some extent) as well as physical help.

On the surface, a lot of people who are living in hoarding situations or even just a messy home might appear to be totally fine with those circumstances.  Underneath that façade, though, these environments can have pretty detrimental effects on their mental well-being.  Messy spaces can cause a lot of stress.

While we don’t always realize that, once the trash is removed and the space is clear again, it can be a huge weight off of our shoulders.  So, if you’ve been trying to muster the energy to start a decluttering project, now might be the time.

Is it Worth Bringing in Professionals?

garbage

More often than not, initial mentions of professional garbage teams are met with a scoff or a sneer.  Certainly, at first glance, it can feel a bit unnecessary.  Who needs to hire someone to throw out the trash, right?

However, there are definitely circumstances in which these services can be super helpful.  Popular television shows have demonstrated that for Hoarding situations, but that’s not the only time that they can be used.  In fact, even people in the real estate market use them.

Really, any time that there’s going to be large volumes of rubbish removal that need to be removed, pro garbage teams can be brought in.  Thankfully, the majority of the time it’ll be a no-questions-asked sort of deal, and they’ll just be there to help you out no matter what the job is.

Again, though, some people are hesitant to call them in for fear that all of the rubbish will just be tossed in a landfill or end up in the ocean.  For a lot of Australians, that’s something that they definitely don’t want to happen.  There are tons of professional rubbish removal services that are eco-conscious in how they handle disposal, though.

If you’re ever uncertain about that still, you can always chat with their customer service agents to get some of the specifics.  A lot of the time it’ll be mentioned on their website in pretty good detail, though.

Any time that you feel like a situation is overwhelming in terms of the sheer volume of rubbish, don’t be afraid to bring in the pros.  Even if it doesn’t seem necessary, there’s a lot of good that can come from it.  Less stress for you is always a plus.

The Nitty-Gritty of Furniture Disposal

Furniture Disposal

On a final note for today, keep in mind that when it comes to getting rid of furniture, there are often specific practices and regulations to follow.  No matter how well we take care of things like our beds, cabinets, and appliances, eventually, we’ll need to replace them.  Throwing them out isn’t as easy as sticking them outside, though.

This is one of the main reasons that people hire rubbish removal experts, especially in Sydney.  If you’ve got a bed that’s too old to be used anymore or some other piece of furniture that needs to be retired, it can be hard to know what to do with it otherwise.  That’s especially true if you are someone who’s concerned with sustainability.

So, in those circumstances, it may be time to get the pros involved even if you wouldn’t have otherwise.  Often, they’ll handle things like refurbishing, deconstructing, and finding ways to recycle the pieces so that there isn’t any waste.  That’s an eco-friendly dream.

Whether you’re getting rid of the trash, furniture, or anything in between, anyone can benefit from rubbish removal.  Declutter your mind and your home all at once.  You can do so in style if you put your mind to it!

Try not to think of it as some terrible chore to be done.  All that will do is make you dread it and probably not have fun in the meantime.  Instead, think of it as a way to make more space in your life for the things that are important to you.

Now, if you’re a support person for something like a hoarding situation or for someone who has a hard time getting rid of things, remember to be firm about the fact that they do need to get rid of stuff.  However, it often does require a bit of a nuanced approach so that there isn’t a mental health crisis.  Just keep that in mind.

Typically, the pros will be ready for that sort of circumstance – after all, a lot of the biggest jobs are something like that.  However, there are times when everyone has a hard time tossing out things that should probably go.  That’s even true for someone who is looking to house flip and has to clear out the stuff inside the property they bought.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of.  You can always take a moment to think about what should be tossed versus what shouldn’t.  As long as you aren’t holding onto anything dangerous or harmful, that’s what’s important.  Lean on the people around you who are there to support you, and talk to your rubbish removal team about the categories of items!
