4 Table Fan Hacks to Make Your ‘Work From Home’ More Comfortable

The scorching heat is breaking all records with each passing year. And now that most of us have been working from home, running an air conditioner all day long seems to be the only relief. But then what about those hefty electricity bills? Who’s gonna pay them? Well, worry not because in this post we bring to you some interesting table fan hacks that will make your ‘work from home’ more comfortable. And just in case you are worried about table fan prices, let us tell you that they are available at very economical rates.

1. Use the age old cross ventilation trick.

Cross ventilation, a classic table fan hack,   you can use this to remove the stale, sun-warmed air out of the room and pull the cooler air in. The first step is to close all the doors, blinds, windows and drapes. You don’t want the hot air inside. Now when the sun goes down, open all the windows and doors and grab two standard table fans. Place both the fans on the window in such a way that one table fan is facing outwards while the other inwards. You can also place the second fan on another window to bring in the cool breeze. This setup will drop a few degrees in no time!

2. Build your own air conditioner.

This table fan hack is a perfect cooling solution. And so what if one doesn’t have an air conditioner, they can make one right away.  For this DIY air conditioner hack, all you need is a bowl full of ice or a frozen bottle of water and a table fan. Yes, that’s it. Place the ice bowl or the frozen bottle directly in front of the table fan. The fan will blow over ice/chilled water, cooling the room efficiently. If you do not have a freezer at home, a wet washcloth will do just fine. Place it over the fan and you will instantly feel the cool breeze.

Tip: Keep one window open for the hot air to escape. Or you can also put another table fan on the window (facing outwards), modifying the previous cross-ventilation hack.

3. Use wet shades and curtains.

To carry out this table fan hack, open your windows and lower the blinds/shades. Clip the sides of the curtain to the window using a cloth clip. Now place the table fan on the window facing inwards. This would keep the curtain still even when the wind blows. Next up, sprinkle some water all over to let the hot air turn into a cool breeze. You can also use a wet towel and hang it from the window. This works equally well.

4. Place it right.

This might seem a bit complicated at first, but it’s not. All you need is a slight idea of the direction of the wind. See from which direction you get the coolest breeze – an open window or a hallway. Now place the table fan in the same direction. This would help facilitate a cross breeze: pulling in the refreshing air into your abode and voilà, lie down and cool off!
